Hello, I was born and raised in Norway where I attended Holy Spirit School and Norway High School. I graduated from Norway High School in 1982 and went on to Northern Michigan University where I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice. I graduated from the NMU Police Academy and went on to work as a police officer for the Mackinac Island Police Department until August 1989 when I was hired by the Michigan State Police. I was employed by the Michigan State Police for 31 years where I held the ranks of Trooper, Sergeant and Detective Sergeant. While with the Michigan State Police, I worked in southeast Michigan, Detour, Iron River, Negaunee, Lansing, Stephenson and retired from the Gladstone Post in September 2020. I had the desire to return to work and become a certified substitute teacher. My enthusiasm for health and wellness and my desire to serve my community drew me to the Holy Spirit School physical education teacher position. I feel I “still have gas in the tank and the ability to
contribute and serve my community.” Being at Holy Spirit School has made me feel like I came home. Holy Spirit School and my education there helped make me a better person and I am excited to contribute to the growth and development of each student I come in contact with. I believe physical activity is good for the mind and the body.
In addition to my law enforcement background, I coached basketball and track at the elementary, junior high, junior varsity and varsity levels. I was also a MHSAA certified basketball referee. My husband, Bill, and I reside in Waucedah Township. We enjoy boating, fishing, hunting, traveling and being physically active.
